We’ve released the rough route for the Azadi Far Ride to the Murray 2024. For those wishing to join us or follow in our footsteps along the stock routes, there are some things you need to know.
The need to know
In QLD, no permit is needed for horseback transport. In NSW, it’s exempt along route-adjacent roads. These exceptions are limited to the extent necessary to undertake the transport activity.
If your intention is to move more than the number of horses needed to meet your travel needs, you will need a permit. If the stock route or stock reserves are intended to be used for the purpose of grazing, droving, or camping, then a permit must be applied for.
Note: Public Liability Insurance is mandatory for stock route permits.
In QLD, each local council manages their stock routes and processing applications. In NSW, there are 11 regional Local Land Services offices responsible for stock routes and reserves within their district. Each regional office or council can provide knowledge on the sections under their care.
Note: Stay informed on Biosecurity regulations.
